Dear Financially Frustrated Student,

How much are bad credit, outstanding debt, and lack of money management skills costing you?

Suppose you could be denied for a job simply because you’ve maxed out all of your credit cards. What if purchasing that car, that you just had to have, kept you from graduating? Could making the decision to move off campus ruin your financial life?

-

I’m no dummy; in fact, I graduated from college a full semester early. I also graduated with 9 credit cards, a charge card, and $15,000 in unsecured debt! No one ever told me that bad credit could ruin my life after college, OK-they “told me” things like “don’t spend more than you make” and “use your credit card for emergencies only”, but what they never TOLD ME was what would happen if I didn’t listen! I couldn’t be talking to you-after all you don’t nearly owe that much right? - Well don’t think that you’re doing OK if you don’t have as much debt as I had-it’s not necessarily the amount, but the way you handle it that can get you in big trouble! Here’s what I learned the hard way:

-
  • I didn’t get the great job that was going to pay the sweet salary that was going to pay off all the debt I had racked up! In fact, I was denied several jobs because of my credit rating.

  • My car wouldn’t make it down the street let alone to the city, but getting a cool new car (actually a phat SUV) wasn’t even an option with the shape my credit was in. They wouldn’t even give me the steering wheel!

  • Spending Spring Break with my friends in South Beach wasn’t worth not being able to go on another vacation for more than 5 years after I graduated!

  • I hated living on campus; I loathed the overcrowded dorms with the loud students, weird odors and having to share a room the size of a jail cell with a roommate! But what I hated more than having a roommate in college was having one after college because no one would rent me an apartment on my own!

  • By far one of the hardest lessons I learned about how bad credit can ruin your life came in the form of everyday reminders that I couldn’t afford to do cool things like eating at hip restaurants, buying trendy clothes, buying lunch at work, hanging out after work or going to a bar or party at required me to pay for it!

Will this be you?

Imagine going on the interview for your dream job only to be denied employment because of what your credit report (not your resume) says about you.

Sound too far fetched to be true? Well, it isn't.

-

You don’t have to imagine, here are some financial facts to help make it real for you …

I want you to be very aware about what bad credit will mean to you in the future:

Still not convinced that bad credit can ruin your life? Consider this …

You will be denied for additional credit cards or for credit cards with low interest rates.

You will be denied for additional credit cards or for credit cards with low interest rates.

Your apartment application will be denied. You will have to always live with someone who has better credit than you.

You will be declined for a checking account, or denied the privilege of opening other types of accounts with a bank or other lending institutions.

You cannot buy furniture, computers, or any other big-ticket items on credit or with financing.

All potential creditors will classify you as a high risk, and you’ll be charged the highest possible interest rate - you’ll pay an average of 25% more for everything.

Getting a mortgage will be difficult. Getting a mortgage with a manageable interest rate will be impossible.
-

On the other hand …

Imagine going on that same interview confident that you have the educational qualifications AND the benefit of having applied the necessary money management skills to land the job!

Think about it. College is a big investment of money and time. Simply put, you’re going to college so you can get a high paying job and the lifestyle that goes along with it-- NOT to be denied jobs, credit, and possibly not graduate at all!

The only real question to ask yourself is this, What Don’t I Know About Money, Credit and Debt that Can Ruin My Life?

"Crack Da Code, What Every College Student Needs To Know About Money, Love and the Dream Job” will provide the answers.
